I've decided that I'll occasionally throw out a thing-a-ba-doodle like this every once in a while, so why not start with a review of some of the coolest characters in anime, no, not cool badass!
Two things before hand though
#1 these characters are only from anime/manga I have read/seen or have seen bits and pieces from.
#2 these are my OPINIONS, you don't have to agree with me, and if you disagree, your problem. However, feel free to put your own opinions in the comments, but refrain from flaming, thanks

Stein from SOUL EATER

Now, Stein kind of starts out as your typical mad scientist with bad skills. However, over time, not only does he provide both the manga and anime with awesome fight scenes, but he provides pretty good humor now and again. Also, he's completely insane, and he knows it and is constantly trying to over come it, and often, well fails
but you got to love the running gag of him and his chair

Revy from Black Lagoon

So, Revy is most definitely badass, but I put her pretty low on the list due to the fact that she's kind of the stereotypical, "dark action chick" (not to mention that she wears the typical booty-shorts and tank top). At least to me she seems that way. But none the less, she rules! Though she does seems to some what care about other people, she doesn't give a sh*t about anyone else and will screw up anyone who tries to change her way of life, and she'll use her colorful language while doing it too. But still, little details like the fact that she's ticklish do give her a human side, which is nice in characters like her. However, I still don't feel that she belongs at the top of this list, maybe towards the top of a badass anime chicks list.

Jin from Samurai Champloo

Now, I'm a sucker for pretty boys, and Jin is no excpetion. However, I think he still deserves to be on this list, because he pulls off some pretty damn badass things. No, no, I'm not talking about that extremely epic final battle where Jin sacrifices himself by creating an opening for the enemy so that he can deliver a fatal blow, of and this is AFTER he  had to swim across to the island where this was all taking place (though this is never shown) and this is AFTER having another epic fight with with that dude from the second fight (first fight mentioned) and getting defeated.....yeah, if you can get all that, he's pretty much badass. However, none of that is what makes him badass, no, what makes him badass is this:[link] (and you were all fooled by the dignified samurai look)

#10 Lelouch for Code Geass

Now, I now what your thinking "why only #10, Marka, Lelouch is SO badass!." Yes, yes, Lelouch is a cool character but the thing was that, I never really got the "badass" vibes from him. As Zero he was really badass but that's only half the character, and, I don't know, the most badass thing about him is his brain power XD, and well, that doesn't get you very high on the list of badass-ery. And girls are always like "oh, Lelouch, your so hawt!" but I honestly never saw was great about him and such. So yeah, XD

Roberta from Black Lagoon

She's a chick in a maid's outfit who could kick your ass to hell and back, what more needs to be said? A former FARC guerrilla trained as an assassin in Cuba and an internationally wanted  criminal, she has also been called a hardcore terrorist in the series. But still, she's now a maid and has an attachment for her master's son, Garcia. And not only that, her character also possesses kindness and love for those close to her, and she has her humorous moments as well. She fricken uses a SPAS-12 shotgun disguised as an umbrella and a grenade launcher hidden in a suitcase among other things. I mean, badass Mary Poppins anyone?

Kubinashi from Nurarihyon no Mago

Now, he isn't an anime character yet (but he shall be soon!) but I still think that if you want a badass character in this series, he's the #1 choice. Kubinashi is a "no neck" youkai or a Nuke-kubi, so to put it simply he's a dude with a floating head. Not only that but his weapon of choice? String, and he uses it with style! I mean, I can't wait to see his fight scenes animated! They will be full of win, trust me. With where the manga's going though, I feel that his best battle is just over the hill, and I will greatly look forward to it!

Mugen from Samurai Champloo

Yes, yes, despite Jin being my favorite character, I have to put Mugen higher on the list, why? Because anyone who can mix swordplay and break dancing is just full of epics!!! Not only that but he kills a back-then "cop" and doesn't understand what the problem is XD. I can't ever really explain his character! You just have to see the series to experience the awesome! Actually, Samurai Champloo is definitely one of the best series I have ever seen, so check it out!
And you ain't "gangsta" when put up to Mugen.

Lucy from Elfen Lied

Lucy is just a cool character, especially when she goes from sweet, adorable little Nyu to "I'm gonna F-you up like no ones business for looking at me wrong" Lucy. Okay, so this chick has invisible arm like appendages known as "vectors" (if I remember correctly) and yet, when fighting one certain cocky military douche bag, she uses his own gun to knock him down before gouging his eyes out and etc. In the anime Lucy has two personalities, which were mentioned earlier, but in the manga she has about-what?-three or four? Anyways, she pretty much someone you want to stay away from at ALL costs, and if you do come across her, make sure you stay out of her reach, and that objects from pens to boat also stay out of her reach.

Kenpachi from Bleach

I can't even really call myself a fan of Bleach and I can tell you that Kenpachi REEKS of aweosme! He is the only and I mean ONLY Bleach character (and probably one of the few anime characters) that has absolutely NO special techniques. NONE! He's just goes out there and kicks ass, and he kicks it good. You know you have a badass character when you turn the manga page or the anime switches panels, and the sight of Kenpachi just want to make you get up and dance. No matter if he's walking in to the room or entering a fight, his entrances are always full of win! Kenpachi is a character that makes Bleach worth your time.

Now, if you've seen the picture above you're probably wondering how the hell THAT could be badass. Oh trust me when I say that she is. She may act cool but don't be fooled by the facade [link] and she means it. Now she doesn't really fight or do anything in that category, but believe me when I say that you don't want her getting her hands on an ashtray whilst you piss her off (which isn't hard to do)[link] You got to love how she takes the time to slam it on the table XD
And for those of us who have seen the series "Don't. Touch. Me."

Kenpachi may reek of awesome but Balalaika LIVES in the stuff! The thing about Balalaika is that she doesn't really even do anything in the actual series besides bitch about her job being a pain in the ass and just kind of be there. But even, though you get some glimpses into how she got the nasty scar on her face [link] and that's still not what makes her badass. You just find out who she is and why she is and the moment she enters the room, you stare with awe. It's just her presence that brings her awesome. And if I ever met this women I would kneel and you would too.....no seriously, you WOULD kneel [link]

Alphard from Canaan

Alphard-Terrorism never looked so good. This woman is everything awesome, but in a body with breasts. She's really not evil, but she's not good either, she not an anit-hero or an anti-villain. As the leader of a terrorist group known as the "Snakes" she naturally causes war but she also brings peace. Why? She's just making business. She's the series' main antagonist because she killed Siam but the thing is, I don't think we ever find out why, which really doesn't bug me none. Not only that but when the President of the USA is trapped in an virus infected building during an anti-terrorism meeting, she messes with the surveillance cameras so that the Vice-President all come to believe that the only man capable of curing the infection is dead. Why? Because this leads to what America does best; switch to plan B, which is, of course, blow up the entire building, including the President. Only until after the bomb is dropped do they find out that plan A could have still worked. Alphard knows how to run a business. Not to mention that she'll let people live simply so that she can see how things turn out. Besides, anyone who shoots their own arm off so that they fall to their death off of a train, and LIVES deserves 2nd place on my list. Alphard, if I were to choose a woman to represent the female gender, she would be it!(and Balalaika)

I wouldn't mess with this guy, you wouldn't mess with this guy, Chuck Norris wouldn't mess with this guy! I really can't even say anything about this guy, HE walks in the room and YOU sh*t bricks! Actually, I shouldn't have to explain why this character is badass, if you've seen him in action, you know why. Originally I was going to put him lower on the list because he's a vampire, but even if he wasn't his badass-ery wouldn't diminish. In all honesty, all I can say is "Alucard" because just saying his name gives birth to a new star somewhere and kills another one somewhere else!

And THAT'S my top 13 most badass anime character!
